White Walls, Designer Dresses: The Fashioning of Modern Architecture by Mark Wigley,

White Walls, Designer Dresses: The Fashioning of Modern Architecture by Mark Wigley,
In a daring reconsideration of modern architecture, Mark Wigley opens up a new understanding of the historical avant-garde. He explores the most obvious but least discussed feature of modern architecture: white walls. Although the white wall exemplifies the stripping away of the decorative costumes worn by nineteenth-century buildings, Wigley argues that modern buildings are not naked. The white wall is itself a form of clothing - the newly athletic body of the building, like that of its occupants, wears a new kind of garment. Not only did almost all modern architects literally design dresses, Wigley points out, but their arguments for a modern architecture were taken from the logic of clothing reform. Architecture was understood as a form of dress design. Wigley follows the trajectory of this key subtext by closely reading the statements clothing fashion line theory and designs of most of the protagonists, demonstrating that it renders modern architecture's relationship with the psychosexual economy of fashion much more ambiguous than the architects' repeated rejections of fashion would suggest. By drawing on arguments about the relationship between clothing clothing fashion line theory and architecture first formulated in the middle of the nineteenth century, modern architects in fact presented a sophisticated theory of the surface, modernizing architecture by transforming the status of the surface. White Walls, Designer Dresses shows how this seemingly incidental clothing logic actually organizes the detailed design of the modern building, dictating a system of polychromy, understood as a multicolored outfit. The familiar image of modern architecture as white turns out to be the effect of a historiographical tradition that has worked hardto suppress the color of the surfaces of the buildings that it describes.

Engineering Electomagnetics by Kenneth R. Demarest,

Engineering Electomagnetics by Kenneth R. Demarest,
FEATURES: Focuses on the physical processes involved in electromagnetic fields clothing fashion line theory and applications. Emphasizes the engineering relevance clothing fashion line theory and use of electromagnetic theory -- in both the "theory" chapters clothing fashion line theory and applications chapters. Uses a "classical," or "historical" approach which begins with low frequency field effects (electrostatics clothing fashion line theory and magnetostatics), clothing fashion line theory and leads later to the full time-varying effects. Motivates the mathematics with discussions that tell the reader where the discussion is going, how it will get there, clothing fashion line theory and what the equations mean. Contains a broad overview chapter on Electromagnetic Sources, Forces, clothing fashion line theory and Fields (Ch. 3) that explains what electric clothing fashion line theory and magnetic fields are, in general, clothing fashion line theory and how they are related to their sources. Discusses the classic electromagnetic experiments that were performed in the early history of electromagnetics, along with the laws that came from electromagnetic equations -- Maxwell's equations. Covers transmission lines before plane waves. This allows: Smoother, earlier coordination with laboratory experiments clothing fashion line theory and measuring instruments that make heavy use of transmission lines. Earlier development of the relationship between electromagnetic theory clothing fashion line theory and circuit theory. Arranges chapters on electrostatic fields clothing fashion line theory and effects (Chs. 4-6) clothing fashion line theory and those on magnetostatic fields clothing fashion line theory and effects (Chs. 7-9) in parallel fashion; this organization presents the material in manageable units. Presents the curvilinear square techniques (flux plots) for graphically solving both electrostatic clothing fashion line theory and magnetostatic boundary value problems. Coverage of transmission lines includes both time-domain clothing fashion line theory and frequency domain analysis. Considers topics not usually covered in othersimilar texts e.g.: rise time on printed-circuit board transmission lines; the transient response of transmission lines with nonlinear loads, such as diodes. Makes extensive use of equivalent circuits to model many aspects of transmission line performance.

Waistline (clothing) - The waistline is the line of demarcation between the upper and lower portions of a garment, which notionally corresponds to the natural waist but may vary with fashion from just below the bust to the upper hips. The waistline of an article of clothing is often used to accentuate different features.
